Unfortunately there still doesn't exist a lot of research dedicated to women with IC and how IC might affect either their fertility or how symptoms might be affected (both negatively and positively) once pregnant.  I have seen women post their pregnancy experiences on numerous IC websites and it does seem that pregnancy with IC is as individual to each person, just like how all of us with IC experience symptoms and effectiveness of IC treatments differently.

I have blogged before that during my worst days with IC I quickly learned how much hormones play a huge role with my IC symptoms.  Ovulation time always brought the worst bladder pain and excruciating pain and inflammation in my labia.  For the first time in my life I actually looked forward to my periods because that meant a significant difference in my IC pain and symptoms.  Knowing this, I would assume that a woman with IC would experience a certain level of "remission" of some of their IC symptoms (although during the third tremester the bladder might relapse given all of that baby weight pressing down) and this guess on my part is reiterated by some women's experiences that I have read about.  Unfortunately, an equal number of IC women who get pregnant state that their IC symptoms did not go away and, unfortunately, for  some women their IC symptoms worsened during pregnancy.

I do not have children at this point in my life.  The idea of whether or not to have any is weighed not only by my IC, but by personal choice to wait or to never conceive, but I respect the choice that women (with IC or not) make regarding this topic.  I would like to end this blog with a request that anyone with IC who has conceived a child to share your experience of your IC symptoms, etc.
